My roommate Jeff hosted a Mardi Gras party last night and he fixed some incredible food: jambalaya, hurricanes, muffalettas, and olive salad. Additionally, Mona (who lives downstairs) bought a king cake from New Orleans and had it fedex'd for the party.
Sounds good food was had by all! New Orleans cuisine has always piqued my interest, but I've never gotten around to making any. I think that Anthony Bourdain went to NOLA once for his show 'A Cook's Tour' and if I remember correctly, they had some pretty sweet food. If you can find the re-run on the Food Network or on the net, I'd definitely recommend checkin' it out. Maybe one of these weeks I'll try my hand at red beans and rice....
